JULIE MCLAMB
Your Piano Instructor
I’m a qualified Piano Instructor who offers personalized lessons and instruction to students in the Fayetteville, NC area as well as online. I’ve taught students of all ages and experience levels since 2007 and love what I do.
MUSICAL BACKGROUND
I began piano lessons at the age of six. I took twelve years of piano from three amazing instructors; the majority of my studies were in classical music. However, I am skilled in sacred, contemporary Christian music styles due to my experience as a church pianist for 40 plus years. Also, I stay current with the latest trends in music styles to encourage students' interests.
LESSONS
My goal is primarily to teach my students, but also to make sure they have fun in a pressure-free, judgement-free environment.
Lessons are thirty minutes each week, and they are held either in studio or online. I use a multiple method approach, among which includes Alfred, Bastian and Faber & Faber Methods. I take time to learn about my students and then adjust my methods accordingly. If you are interested in learning with me, do not hesitate to get in touch regarding openings and student fees. Classes fill up fast.
The most important thing to me is my students feel confidence and enthusiasm, and believe that with determination, discipline and practice, they can achieve their musical goals.
Julie McLamb
Julie does an excellent job of not only training her students to be skillful pianists, but also educated musicians when it comes to reading the music itself. What sets Julie apart from so many teachers is the way she truly invests in her students’ lives, seeking to know them and challenge them, that they may grow. She also does a great job of encouraging her students while keeping them on their toes, always working towards the next thing. She doesn’t give up on her students, and she doesn’t let her students give up on themselves, either. Often during lessons, whether I was struggling with a specific piece of music or dealing with something else at the time, Mrs. Julie would remind me that even the hardest things in life are merely challenges. She would then do everything in her power to ensure that I was equipped to face those challenges. For anyone interested in learning to play the piano, whether beginning for the first time or picking up where you might have left off, there is no instructor I would recommend more highly than Julie McLamb.
Olivia Spain
Julie was my piano teacher from 4th grade to senior year of high school. She was supportive, understanding, and challenged me. Even when I was stuck on the same page in the book for a few weeks because I couldn't quite get it or find time to practice, Mrs. Julie wouldn't get mad or frustrated. Instead, we would take the piece apart again and work through it until I could move past it. When I was auditioning for colleges and I needed an accompanist, Mrs. Julie was happy to do it and travel with me on a short notice (even though I auditioned on instruments other than piano - talk about supportive!). Now, as I begin my career as a music teacher, I am thankful to Mrs. Julie for giving me a strong foundation in piano and theory and encouraging me to push on through challenges. If you are looking for a piano teacher, whether you (or your child) are just starting or you played years ago and want to pick it up again, I highly recommend Mrs. Julie for you.
